This old fashioned recipe is a bully money saving dinner that certainly wont break the bank!

You'll demand:

  • olive oil
  • minced garlic and ginger -you tin mince your own fresh garlic cloves and ginger or you can use shop-bought jars of pre-minced (which is what I do!)
  • brown onion -medium sized and finely chopped
  • beef mince -I generally use lean beef mince, however y'all can use any beef mince yous take available
  • curry powder -I use Keens brand just any store-bought curry pulverization is fine
  • carrots
  • cabbage -employ finely sliced white or green cabbage for this recipe

Recipe Notes & Tips

Curry pulverisation -2 tsp of back-scratch powder (every bit per the recipe) volition give you a very mild tasting chow mein (this is the amount I use when I cook this recipe for my family, including my young son). Storing & Freezing Chow Mein

This is one of those delicious recipes that's even better when reheated!

Grub mein can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for upwardly to 2 days.

Alternatively, it tin be frozen for up to 3 months.

  • 500 g beef mince
  • i brown onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbs ginger finely minced
  • 2 tsp curry powder more or less depending on your taste preferences
  • ii carrots finely chopped
  • ½ cabbage shredded
  • 250 ml water
  • 1 tsp vegetable stock powder
  • loving cup oyster sauce
  • two tbs soy sauce
  • 350 g Singapore noodles or thin hokkien noodles

Conventional Method

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and add together the beef mince and chopped onion.

  • Saute until the mince has browned and the onion has softened (approx 5 minutes).

  • Add together the garlic, ginger and curry pulverisation and cook until fragrant (approx i-two minutes).

  • Add the carrots, cabbage, water, vegetable stock powder, oyster sauce and soy sauce and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, fix the noodles according to the packet instructions.

  • Drain noodles and add together to the grub mein.

  • Stir to combine and cook for a further 1 minute.

  • Serve with actress soy sauce, sesame seeds or chopped peanuts.

Thermomix Method

  • Place the garlic and brown onion into the TM basin and chop on Speed 6 for v seconds. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.

  • Add together the carrot and chop past pressing Turbo 4-5 times (or until it'due south the chunkiness you lot desire).
